A new Consolidation Centre has been unveiled at London Luton Airport (LLA), marking a significant step forward in the airport’s retail logistics operations.
Drawing on its extensive experience in airport logistics, o&i consulting played a key role in the development of a consolidation centre solution: supporting the airport operator in defining its future retail logistics strategy and establishing the operational requirements, operating model and concept of operations for the new facility.
For the procurement phase, o&i consulting provided independent, subject matter expertise throughout the tender process, helping to successfully select a third-party logistics operator to manage the facility.
Operated by GXO Logistics, the new consolidation centre will transform the way retail goods are delivered and distributed across the airport. The solution will provide LLA with a smoother, more efficient logistical approach to receive and process hundreds of thousands of retail goods delivered to the airport each year, simplifying deliveries from multiple suppliers to over 50 shops and restaurants across the airport terminal.
