OPERATIONS DESIGN PROJECTS
Our team members have experience of designing passenger terminal, air cargo, parcel and logistics operations. Here are some examples of our work:
Members of our team reengineered bmi’s Heathrow and Manchester airport check-in operations in order to improve customer service, reduce the impact of congestion on the check-in concourse, increase use of self-service check-in facilities and reduce the need to expedite for closing flights. In preparation for the operation of Terminal 5, Heathrow Airport, an o&i consultant led the development and implementation of British Airway’s baggage handling processes at its Heathrow operation, working closely with operational management and trade unions to ensure processes were lean and robust. |
o&i consultants led a strategic review to determine the air cargo market and commercial potential for Budapest Airport. Following this review, they determined the best airport master plan location, with fall back options, and developed the Cargo City operating concept and conceptual design of the entire area. |
We demonstrated the potential to meet future passenger search capacity and processing requirements at a large international airport in support of a Costain proposal. o&i consulting determined capacity requirements to meet peak hour demand, and developed plans and 3D drawings to illustrate the possibility of centralising and relocating passen-ger security screening operations. The diagrams included operational detail such as associated passenger flows and security lane designs to accommodate new technologies. |
Working with and on behalf of Airbiz, in the development of new airport facilities, o&i consulting designed the queue layout for the immigration area. |
Layout design and process improvement recommendations for a new screening area with the aim of optimising throughput. |

Process design, procurement and project management support for a vehicle control barrier system. |
