o&i OPERATIONS PLANNING PROJECTS
o&i consulting helps clients to plan all aspects of their operations including workload, capacity, facilities, resource, and vehicles. Our operations planning reference projects include:
Demand and capacity modelling and operations planning for Heathrow Airport in preparation for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. |
Development of a model to enable the airport company to produce profiles for resource planning. |
Through optimised route planning and more effective driver load and distribution routines, our consultants achieved a greater number of stops per driver, reduced mileage and cost reductions in terms of fewer driver and vehicle numbers for DPD. Savings of more than 10% were achieved from implementation. |
Working with and on behalf of Airbiz, we performed detailed modelling of airport operations. Our work focused on inbound processes before customs (passengers and bags) and outbound baggage hall operations, including vehicle movements and bags off lateral rate. |
Delivered improved roster patterns and production efficiencies for the airport’s ground operation. Our consultants provided the client with roster patterns that more effectively matched workload demand and staffing resources, and identified opportunities for cross utilisation of staff across departments Their work enabled the client to increase productivity and reduce required staff resources while handling tasks more efficiently. |
Study of school traffic demand to identify opportunities to reduce the traffic impact and improve safety. |
o&i consultants analysed ULD movements for seven airlines and their availability across the airline networks. We developed a bespoke model to optimise ULD allocations. |
o&i consultants completed a baggage handling system demand and capacity study at a major international terminal to ensure future planned BHS developments are appropriate in terms of both scale and timing. We analysed the existing BHS demand and used future planning schedules to determine when, where and how much additional capacity is required. Our work considered a range of scenarios that address variations in key drivers such as baggage ratios, equipment capabilities and allocation methodologies. A key element of this project was the development of a capacity modelling tool, with user guide, to assess BHS constraints and pinch-points and enable the airport company to conduct future capacity assessments. |
Apron strategy, airport capacity benchmarking and the development of a stand planning model. |
