o&i consulting ONE YEAR ON

 

It has already been a year since we established o&i consulting and we wanted to take this opportunity to briefly revisit the past year.

As a group of former colleagues, we set up o&i consulting with confidence in our mix of operational research and industrial engineering skills, and aviation and distribution industry expertise, and the benefits they can bring to these sectors. We were – and still are! - confident in how we work together as a team, our mutual approach to industry / client issues and resolving them in a practical manner, and our shared motivation to provide the best outcome to clients.

We are pleased to have worked with a broad range of international clients in a variety of sectors during the past twelve months. Our team members have worked in places such as Chicago, Dublin, Durban, Moscow, and Sydney, as well as in numerous locations across the UK. The work they have completed has varied from apron capacity planning, baggage handling capacity improvement and passenger screening continuous improvement for airports; vehicle flow management for a ferry company; and goods and waste logistics for a major London railway station. As we have repeated a few times over the past year, the economic climate and the ‘state’ of the aviation industry provided a challenging environment for setting up a new business. However, we are pleased to look back on a year that, overall, has produced very positive results for us and a solid foundation to continue to build o&i consulting into the future.

The past year has not just been about economic success. We are delighted to have developed a broad network of clients and contacts. Furthermore, for the seven of us, establishing o&i consulting has been about doing a job that we thoroughly enjoy, where we can apply our skills and expertise. It has been about working in an environment that we are comfortable working in with people who we enjoy working well with. All of these factors have contributed to our drive to make the business a success and to the enthusiasm with which we approach our work whatever the circumstances, even when we are working through the night in the cold!
