JOHN PACKHAM EXPERIENCE
Selected Personal Experience:
- Cargo facility design, Budapest Airport
Developed the conceptual and detailed design and determined the user requirements for a Cargo City at Budapest Airport. Phased development options were proposed to accommodate growth forecasts and stakeholder requirements.
- Check-in process reengineering, BAA
Optimised the easyJet check-in operation by developing and demonstrating demand-driven check-in desk planning techniques and an optimised concourse layout that segregated passengers according to their processing needs.
- Process improvement, Music Box Leisure
Development of new processes and design of the operational layout for a new facility to house the order fulfilment operations for a UK distributor of entertainment products. John’s role also included identifying process improvement opportunities, assessing their impact, modelling the key functional areas and determining the space required to successfully perform the improved processes.
- Security screening design, Delhi International Airport
Design of a new passenger security screening layout that would facilitate demand for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010. John helped map the current processes and then design a layout that would provide suitable capacity for expected demand in 2010 and beyond. This design made best use of a constrained terminal space as well as satisfied all operational and regulatory requirements.
- General manager, Abercrombie & Fitch
During two years at Abercrombie & Fitch, John was based in both their London and New York operations. His achievements included introducing lean manufacturing principles into a product re-supply system, therefore increasing throughput by 10%. He also formed part of the management team responsible for operating an US$80 million flagship store in New York City.
